Next time you take a vacation, consider going green!  Here are some resources to help:

Green Routes:  This is a green travel guide for Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin
Go Green Travel:  Travel tips for the eco-conscious traveler
In 1853 Liz Rog's ancestors came to northeast Iowa and built a cabin.  A little over twenty years ago, Liz and her husband, Daniel Rotto, decided to make that same cabin their home.  In their reconstruction they decided to make every effort to live an eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle and have been doing so ever since.  The cabin is supplied electricity through solar panels, has a refrigerator designed to work on solar power, and uses a composting toilet to reduce water consumption.  Their daughters, Liz and Sophie, were born and grew up in the little log cabin and the family has been kind enough to give us a list of suggestions for how to make changes in your daily life to live a little greener!  Please open the file on the left to see their suggestions.

Liz and Daniel have now built a new house (still a green home, just bigger) and have  opened the cabin as a guest house.  Visiting Fern Hollow cabin is an excellent reminder than you can go green even on vacation!  If you want to learn more about the little log cabin, click on the link for Fern Hollow Cabin to the left.  Also, check out our links on green travel to the left.

Thanks to to Liz, Daniel, Sophie, and Ida for their support of the Eco Dudes!
