Top Five Things You Can Do to Reduce, Reuse, Recycle
  1. Reuse or give away things that you are not using anymore
  2. Try to buy items that will last longer
  3. Try to buy only products that you need
  4. Use everything you buy
  5. Try to buy more products that can be recycled

 How To Start Recycling

To start recycling, you need to have a recycling bin.  Then all you really need to do is put any of your items that can be recycled into the bin.  After you can take the bin to your local recycling center, or put it out on the curb if oyur city does recycling and garbage.

Recycling Project #1

When it is Christmas time, consider using old newspaper for gift wrap.  This is an inexpensive way to wrap gifts.  Half of the paper used in the United States every year is used to wrap and decorate consumer products (according to CalRecycle).  This is a great way to reduce the consumption in your daily life.

Recycling Project #2

We all have old t-shirts we've grown out of but maybe don't want to get rid of.  If you have an old t-shirt that you you can't bear to part with, then consider turning it into a bag like the one pictured below.  Follow the instructions in the file below to make your own bag!  Thanks to Amy Zollars for making the bag and to Mrs. Marilyn Heitz for writing the directions for us.
